As a fan of Namco's arcade driving games, I personally have to say that I am kind of disappointed in this game. Although I like the fact that the game still sort of keeps Namco's trademark driving handling (besides the fact that the player drifts just by simply turning and letting go of the wheel), what I don't like is the fact is that it's cheap, simplistic, and an inferior version of the company's Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune games and here's a few examples:

    -Very few tracks
    -Tracks are also very short
    -Very few cars
-Uses PIN system instead of card system like other Namco's recent arcade games.
    -No high scores
    -Poor replay value
-The game doesn't allow you to reject the camera unless you dodge or block the camera or if it's unavailable
-Only the Japanese version (under the name Maximum Heat) utilizes 3D Glasses.

(So to sum it all up, it's a casualized namco arcade racer which is probably why it's inferior to its other arcade racer counterparts

I've heard that Dead Heat's development history was pretty rough because Namco wasn't fully involved in the development of the game, it only took only about 2 months to develop, and it was initially designed for movie theater arcades.

only 4 stages makes this too limited. I got bored fast.

I saw this game at a local cinema. I know it's a de-Japanized version of Maximum Tune but I still generally like the slightly retro look of the game, like it's something running on a next generation version of the Dreamcast.

The turn off for me is the selfie avatars. I really would rather not see my face in a game.

I never this version with lots of American cars. The one I usually play at the mall is Japanese version with lots of classic JDM cars plus Tokyo track.
