    Hi, I have the version 1.2.1 of gamemaker and at 13:00 there is at line two this:
    var type_event = async_load[? "type"]; the probmel is that it doesn't expect the symbol "?" wich gives me an error, any idea how could i make it work?

    Alright, I know this video came out like 5 years ago, but I have two questions. With the example that you used, if you were to place a dot, and leave on the client side and rejoin, the dot isn't there anymore. How would I update the player trying to join? And also how would I be able to get the player's ip dynamically, without having to write it down in code?

    how would this be done with game maker 2?
    i've noticed that instance_create is not an runtime variable in gamemaker anymore, so would it be instance_create_layer with an extra argument for layer?

    I know this video is years old, but I have a problem:
    My client-side game doesn't open. I click on the green play button and nothing happens: no window, no input… I only hear static. I still have to close the game to click play again. The client object seems to be the problem, since removing it from the room makes everything start just fine. I'm 100% sure there are no errors in the code so… help?

    Add: If a client tries to connect to a server when the server is not ON, the game maker system will keep trying to connect until your OS automatically make it stop. It take about 1~2 min.
    Therefore add "socket = network_set_config(network_config_connect_timeout, 1000);" at the bottom of client socket creation code. This code will stop the connection try if the connection does not success in 1000ms(1sec).
