Matkot madness on Israel's beaches

ISRAEL21c’s intrepid correspondent heads to the Tel Aviv shore to find out what the heck Israelis love (or hate) about this paddle sand sport.

Israeli guys — and the occasional gal — don’t feel a day at the beach is complete without a spirited game of Israeli paddleball, a.k.a. matkot. Why do players love this homegrown sport, and how do sunbathers stand the occasional ball whacking them in the head?

Molly Livingstone takes us to the Tel Aviv shore in a hilarious look at how Israelis really feel about the ubiquitous sand sport.

This is probably the worst report I've ever seen. I'm no reporter and I can say I'd have done a better one.

Hi dear friend, if you want a more performed and ecofriendly equipment, let's have a look on baliboa social club on Facebook. You will jump into an other world of recreational sport.

the dangerus part is currect people get hurt pretty bedly from matkot (that game they show here) but the beach is NEVER that clean … it's uaually really dirty and allot more crowded…
and i don't know what effect they did on the water… but they DO NOT look like this…

This so called game is very controversial in the Israeli society, while some people call it to "sport" others suffer and claim that matkot is one of the main sources of disturbance on the beaches in Israel.

Annually, many people get injured by this "game" and in most cases no one is responsible for that. This is not fun at all for many Israelis and guests of Israel.
